Bringing in the story of Dorcas, the only description of which is from an article describing one of the largest slave sales in Georgia’s history in 1859. The well meaning journalist describes her as “frozen like a statue.” What rage, grief and power lies beneath the frozen exterior? What comes when it melts. In conjuring, embodying these stories can activate the liberatory potential of rage and grief?
